Problems with shutdown

Hi!
I'm using warty, and in my computer (VIA motherboard, PIII 750Mhz),
when I choose "shutdown" in gnome, it shutdowns everything but the
computer itself. Ie, it terminates all the processes, etc, but at the
end of the process, when it should really shutdown the computer, it
just freezes (the screen keeps showing the console instead of showing
the cute "no signal" window).
Reading the mailing list, I found that adding: "apm power_off=1" to
/etc/modules may help, so I did it. Now, instead of finishing on a
"freezed" state, it reboots.
Does anybody knows what should I do to make it work?
Cheers,
