Yes this is what i did and I later realised that the old kernel was 
there still so i could use it, then i edited yaboot.conf to load the old 
kernel by default. Phewww ... now i am trying to get rid of the bad 
kernel. Then I downloaded the latest kernel from kernel.org and i would 
like to compile it.  All this is because i cannot compile a stupid modem 
driver.
