Thanks Bob, that worked !
I stopped the 'ppp' service with 'sudo /etC/init.d/./ppp stop' which I
think, Senectus, equals to doing ' poff '. Then I did " ifconfig " to
make sure I was left with only 'lo' et 'eth0'. Then I started Gnome's
network config tool, deleted my network card, removed all DNS info, and
cleared every field I could see. Then I make sure that there is no PPP
sript file left in /etc/init.d. Then I restart the machine (just to
make sure I start from a clean sheet so to speak), and I simply do as
you all told me : I start the Network config tool. Gnome had already
created the eth0 card that I had deleted before rebooting. But this
time all was clean. So I just added "automatic DHCP", and that was it,
broadband was working !! Yeepee !! :o)
I have one new problem now though... I can RECEIVE mails (with
Evolution) fine, but it now seems unable to SEND out any mail I write
!!! :o(((
Ohhhh dear, I guess I ought to start a new thread/topic about that !
:o(
