I agree with you, what our friend Michael says hardly makes sense. He
talks as if he had run both OSes at same time, which can't be, save with
virtualisation, of course. So boths systems can't fight for hardware
control :)
Or maybe Michael attempted to run Windows on a Ext2 or Ext3 partition ? :)
