Re: Something that worked for me.
I am replying to this thread because it is relevant to getting some
multimedia to come out of my speakers using Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy
Badger). I searched all over the options in Firefox and even tried
starting it as a super-user. Still, it seems impossible to get any
application to play a stream at my favorite jazz station:

Firefox did show an Mplayer screen, but it just said "downloading",
like forever.
What finally worked for me was installing konqueror. It requires some
extra libraries that I didn't have (Synaptic chose them
automatically), but I could detect no drop in performance at all. I
used the RealAudio link and Konqueror played it with what was the
default application, Totem.
