Has Ubuntu Replaced Windows on Your Box?

Unfortunately that doesn't help Gimp being any better than about Photoshop
4.0 :/ It's still Gimp. Just a few examples:

- in Photoshop you don't have to care about layer boundaries (it
automatically extends if needed, etc), in Gimp you do. annoying annoying
annoying.
- I never really grasped the idea of "floating selection", except that it's
useless; fortunately it was removed long ago (from PS, not from Gimp).
- In PS, font layers can be edited WYSIWYG-style, and can be transformed
without converting it to bitmap first (basically it's like a vector layer);

Btw, Photoshop also had/has it's stupidities; they needed 8 versions to more
or less sort them out.

Actually, Gimp wouldn't need any major surgery, just some
small-but-practical improvements (like the above) to be a fully competent
competent :) Unfortunately just rearranging the menu layout (AFAIK Gimpshop
is only that) is not enough.
