Well, as you so kindly pointed out (*several* times) that you would
miss messages from cron, cron is a good candidate as it is in the
default install.
That would take care of missed messages about important dangling
symlinks and cater for the 0.05% of users that go the extra mile to
configure software raid and yet forgets to install an MTA.
To be perfectly honest, if a user is configuring software raid, they
are probably capable of installing an MTA should they want
notification to go off-box, don't you think?
Of the top of my head, I can't think of another app yet that could
benefit from being extended to do dbus notification to user, but I am
sure that as people find cases, they can be added to the list.
