Samba help please

They are both guity of vagueness in this area..

How do I install Samba?

To add network user

    1.

       Read How do I add/edit/delete users?
    2.

       smbpasswd -a system_username
       sudo gedit /etc/samba/smbusers

    3.

       Insert the following line into the new file

       system_username = "network username"

What's a "system_username"?

Do I have one?

What's a "network username"?

Do I have one?

Will this get me networked with my other computer in this room (Windows 
XP-only box) the same way I was when both ran Windows XP?   There were 
no user names or passwords involved?
