There are a playstation2 using Linux from Sony - they should be fine.
Anyway there are som quality edutainment applications for 7-10 years kids:
gcompris and childsplay, tuxmath,tuxtype and tuxpaint.
Beside some outdated in their graphic I have found: scrabble, xdigger that
do work with Ubuntu.
I've had BIG problems with supertux and planetpenguin-racer (ppracer) that
have made my desktop collaps and al got really slooovly. I have to try to
restore the whole system just now.

If you know of some other games - please let me know!
