I try not to install Gnome packages because I prefer KDE, but every now and
then I try something out that installs huge amounts of Gnome dependencies,
and I've never had a problem yet. My best guess in this situation is that
the Rocker is using Dapper, and there KDE's not entirely _internally_
consistent (I can't for instance install KMyMoney without losing most of
KDE - or at least, I couldn't last week) let alone consistent with Gnome.

If you are _not_ using Dapper, and have problems installing any Gnome
packages report it as a bug - most people can run both KDE & Gnome
desktops, though istr problems getting to a Gnome desktop from KDM - so you
might need to use GDM.
