Hi:
I'm finding that my computer is slowing to a crawl when Nautilus is
active. It happens when I've been logged in for a while and I've had a
Nautilus window open for a few hours. For instance, it happened last
night. When I clicked on another directory in Nautilus, X.org used 95%
of CPU in top and it took about a minute for the directory to be
displayed. I logged out and back in again. Everything was fast.
Now, 14 hours later, it's happening again. top shows that X.org's cpu
usage goes from 2% or 3% up to 95% and then eventually drops back down
to it's previous level. Oddly, Nautilus doesn't show any such increase.
If I just close Nautilus and restart it, the problem comes right back.
However, if I log out and log back it, Nautilus doesn't slow things down
for a few hours.
Anyone have an idea as to what is going on?
