"Add Applications" Missing

I have recently tried previous fix for this and found the following:

Use synaptic to search for 2 packages, gnome-app-install and gksudo. In
my case gksudo was installed, however gnome-app-install wasn't. I
selected the missing package and installed it through Synaptic. Once
installed I checked the Applications menu and found the Add
Applications entry. If this doesn't work, use SMEG to create the entry
outlined in the previous posts
