For anybody else with an Inspiron 6000, the problems are fixed at 2.6.15-8
and udev 077-0ubuntu5 (at least that it boots and recognizes the Intel
wireless - haven't tried USB, but since that worked if I could boot
2.6.15-5, I expect it's fine).
