45 instances of gnome-pty-helper...

Hi,

can you tell me why there are 45 instances of gnome-pty-helper running 
on my box? Every now and then I kill some of them, but after a few days 
ther're running again.

Since gnome-pty-helper is part of libvte4, which is needed by 
gnome-terminal and many other applications, there's no way to get rid of 
  the program itself. I'm just looking for a way to control the number 
of instances!
