acroread plugin not working

Hello,

I have just installed Breezy, added Acrobat Reader 7, copied nppdf.so to
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/, but the plugin does not seem to be recognised
(does not show up in About:Plugins, PDF files open in a separate window,
not in browser). Acrobat reader works fine. Firefox does not "see" the
plugin either.

Has anyone had this problem?  Any fixes?

I have installed quite a few Debian and (K)Ubuntu desktop systems, but
this is the first time I'm running into this problem.
