The bars are athena widgets I guess, they work VERY differently from
what you're used to from gtk/qt/windoze:

 Left button clicks will scroll down proportionally to where in the
 scrollbar you click.

 Right button clicks will scroll up proportionally to where in the
 scrollbar you click.

 Middle button press-n-drag will scroll interactively.
