Not quite, 2-5 just all do the same thing, so changing the default
runlevel has *no* effect whatsoever.

Or you could check the /etc/rc?.d/*dm files and see none of them run
when they're not the default, as set in /etc/X11/default-display-manager.
So you could simply edit *that* file and set its contents to "fubar".
