Sorry my bad. I see what you mean now. In my system Azureus, GAIM and 
SCIM-gtk-applets have gray background.

No matter what icon set you choose the icon in the system tray/all tray 
is drawn by the application. So if it draws it with the background fill 
then that's how its gona be. I cant think of any way other than 
modifying source and recompiling.
