Transition from apt-get to aptitude?

I don't know the trick to stop it, but what's happening (as I recall) is
that if you install something and it installs other packages as
dependencies and then remove the original package, apt-get leaves the
dependencies, while aptitude removes them as well (unless you've
subsequently installed something else that depends on them). 

So I assume what you would need is an option that says "don't remove
packages installed as dependencies when their dependees have been
removed".
