I replaced Windows on my computer about the time Breezy was released. I
do mean replaced, because I can do everything I did in Windows in
Linux. I did my school work in linux not windows even was able to do my
power point presentations with impress and it ran great on the schools
Windows box. I do all my programming in linux. I like the programming
enviroments better in linux, person preference. Both my digital camera
work in linux, and I can choose from several different picture editing
softwares in linux to modify, crop, and print them. I personly think my
HP-7260 printer prints better in linux than windows. I know my 64bit
processor runs better in linux :-) Networking is easy in both Windows
and linux. I don't reload my linux on my box every 4-6 months like I
use to with Windows. My perants, brother, and wife use Windows XP and I
have had to reinstall Windows more than once on their computers for
them. I see linux as a replacement at least for me. I switched to linux
because of the instublity of Windows which I understand is getting
better. It still takes me over 2 hours to reload windows on my wifes
computer and find the drivers she needs on the net and get her up and
running. Only takes me a little more than an hour to get my Ubuntu box
up from a fresh install. My wife would be using Ubuntu if her Gateway
wasn't incompatible with linux. She likes that I can use streamripper
to make mp3s from net-radio stations.

Just really saying YES linux can replace windows, for some people.
