emacs/X11/background problem in Breezy

I have the first one, plus my third mouse button isn't working...
despite being enabled in xorg.conf.  There seem to be a huge amount of
x updates according to apt just now.  Not sure whether to upgrade them
or not.



p.s. if you use KDE, you'd be best to delete .kde/share/* to get build
a new profile.  KDE was really slow until I did that, but afterwards it
was fine.
