This is a mistake.  A Linksys router _is_ a linux box - even with the
default firmware.

You can do all of that.  With sveasoft Alchemy (one of the 3rd party
firmwares), and possibly others, you have complete access to iptables.

Perhaps you should follow your own advice and check out what you can do on a
WRT54G. ;-)
