LOL.  I've read that until my eyes crossed, and it's never clear.  I think
I've finally got my pinning working but only because I take two very
specific packages from non-ubuntu repositories and give everything else in
those repos low priority.

Unfortunately, despite all the problems I've had with the apt_preferences
dox, I still haven't figured out a way to improve it, or I'd send them some
patches...
