Thanks everyone for the good feedback on the crashing problem I'm having
with my two Dells. That's what I like about the Ubuntu community. Since
I'm on digest mode, I'll reply that way too.

After weeks of tinkering around I got my Dell wireless to work. I hope I
don't have to get rid of it. :-( However, I will keep an eye on it and
maybe try running with out it for a while and see what happens. The laptop
isn't nearly as bad as the Precision Desktop though. The desktop crashes
much more frequently. Thanks for the tip.

My experience with SSH is limited but that sounds like a good way to find
out how hard it has crashed. That should indicate if it is an X problem or
not. Thanks!

I'm sure we'll figure it out. Stay tuned!

That looks interesting. However, I don't think, in this case, it has much
to do with the CD/DVD drive though I have had lockup problems with DVD's.
The problem I'm having happens when nothing is in the drive. There are a
bunch of threads on the link you gave me. I'll try to follow them all.
Thanks!
