add these lines to you /etc/apt/sources.list file.
deb http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/ubuntu-backports hoary-backports
main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/ubuntu-backports hoary-extras
main restricted universe multiverse

The use apt-get or synaptic to install azureus. It is another bittorent
client which I have never had any problems with. Alternatively, it is
entirely possible that you simply have chosen a faulty torrent
