imho your example does not really make sense, as ubuntu does not install
the ssh-server by default
(you expect clueless "fearfull of CLI" newbies to install
the ssh-server in ubuntu ?)
apart from that i can imagine that in time security in linux will only
become better
installing a firewall with e.g. firestarter or gnome-lokkit is not that
very difficult btw
