You should _not_ setuid cdrecord - any of them.  You _should_ be a member of
the group which owns the cd writer device.  In my case, I am a member of
'cdrom' (silly choice of names for a writer :-) ), as is /dev/scd0, which
all the /dev/cd* and /dev/dvd* devices link to.  However, the #$%^& thing
_also_ wants access to /dev/sg0 which keeps getting created with root
ownership!
