IBM Thinkpad T41 Power Off

I have an IBM Thinkpad R51 (2889) and I have never experienced this. I
have Ubuntu Linux: Hoary 5.04 installed and I haven't experienced
this? What command are you passing at to shutdown. I usually use:

# sudo shutdown -h now

It has always worked perfectly for me?
