First user philosophy

Greetings. I am new here. (This is my first post.) When I post
simple-minded questions to the NOVALUG I sometimes sign myself Charlie,
the Perpetual Newbie. ... Now the question.

I have been saying to myself that basically the first user is root. But
I expect that that isn't really true. Where can I find a discussion of
this topic?

Also, is this the right place to pose this question?
