LimeWire hangs my Ubunutu

I also tried running LimeWire with only 2 permitted uploads and no 
downloads and it still becomes sluggish.

I'm starting to think it is a Java problems.
Is there some easy way to downgrade my running JRE to 1.4 instead of 1.5?
