Hello,

That is a good point, but this is the reason why I insist to do scsi
emulation for ide on 2.6.x:

Andy Poliakov (the author of growisofs):
As fast-acting remedy I can suggest to route your unit through ide-scsi.
The way it was under 2.4. Even though it's declared unsupported it
actually still works in 2.6 (I for one still use it). And once ide-cd.c
is fixed you'll be able to revert back to officially recommended path.
A.
--- end ---
So it's a bug in ide-cd.c

And anyway, I'm wondering about that realy old mkinitrd-tools debian bug
which seems to stay until today in Horay:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=240734

I'm just curious about why there is this error message, and why I'm not
able to manage ide-scsi emulation according to the ubuntu howto here:
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/HowToEnableSCSIEmulationWithHoaryKernel26
Is this due to debian bug #240734 in mkinitrd-tools, or missed I
something with udev.rules? I have no clue about that.

Anyway, I appreciate much the link you posted.

Kind regards

Gerhard Gaußling
