Hello,

This is my last try to get a response in the Ubuntu community regarding
this issue [1]:

I'm wondering how to setup ide-scsi for 2.6.x.x Kernels in Ubuntu Horay
amd64.

I didn't reached to manage that.

With every kernel - also with a custom vanilla kernel with nvidia
support - I didn't managed to get a working scsi emulation (to mount
multisession dvd flawlessy) on ubuntu.

I got on bootup this error message (before bootlogd can
capture it):

        modprobe -k ide-mod options "hdc=ide-scsi"
        FATAL: module ide_mod not found!

ls /dev doesn't return a sd* or sr* device for the cdrom device, but the
ide_scsi module is already loaded:

An excerpt of lsmod:

md 48896 0
dm_mod 63960 0
ide_generic 1600 0 [permanent]
ide_disk 17920 0
ide_cd 44680 0
ide_scsi 17284 0
ide_core 147396 5
amd74xx,ide_generic,ide_disk,ide_cd,ide_scsi
sr_mod 18596 0
cdrom 43176 2 ide_cd,sr_mod
sd_mod 19288 8
sata_sil 10308 0
sata_nv 10308 7
libata 53128 2 sata_sil,sata_nv
scsi_mod 153488 5 sbp2,ide_scsi,sr_mod,sd_mod,libata

I did a `sudo echo ide-scsi >> /etc/modules`
should this be ide_scsi?

Anyway , after replacing hdc with sdc in /etc/fstab mount returns this
error:
mount /cdrom
mount: device /dev/sdc doesn't exists

So, how to setup ide-scsi emulation in Horay Hedgehog amd64?

What's about

Kind regards

Gerhard Gaußling
