xfonts-scalable deletes Speedo dir?

Is xfonts-scalable supposed to be deleting the Speedo dir? Comparing two
installs I noted that the one that won't display some fonts correctly
doesn't have a /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo dir. I tried running
"dpkg-reconfigure xfonts-scalable", since it includes a
/etc/X11/fonts/Speedo directory. I got this message:
Updating font configuration of fontconfig...
Cleaning up category cid..
Cleaning up category truetype..
Cleaning up category type1..
Updating category type1..
Updating category truetype..
Updating category cid..
warning: /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo does not exist or is not a directory
So... I tried doing "mkdir /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo", running
dpkg-reconfigure again, and I got the same message. And the directory
was gone again. It looks like the xfonts-scalable scripts are deleting
it.
