Ah, I was sure ;o) Sadly, X-Plane or Racer (once I managed to have ti
running), won't give great graphics, or simply run at all really,
without H/W rendering :-/

Yeah I did try the 'nv' driver for comparison purposes, and my main
problem with the binary driver (logging out then in, screen corruptions
and hard locks) seems to be much less present with the 'nv' driver. But,
since I do need H/W rendering, I am forced to use the binary driver
anyway :-/

Actually there IS hope ! I read on the net a few months ago, about
someone who investigated the possibility of designing and manufacturing
an open source graphics card for Linux. That is, tagetting the card
exclusively to the Linux world, and writing an open source driver for
it, and releasing the tiniest detail of the cards specs, to let the
community improve the initial driver if needed.
I can't remember the URL where I saw that (didn't boomark it), but I
hope this project will see the light of day at some point. How fantastic
that would be, the spirit of open source, generosity/solidaritry, that
gets so powerful that it manages to translate to the H/W world.
I remember the guy created a poll to conduct a survey and get a feel for
feasability and design priority.
I am surprised that this project doesn't get much coverage, as it's so
fantastic I find. The more people know about it, the more likely this
guys company will be tempted to invest money to design a board.
