Hi!
I'll add my 2 cents. This is not a generic solution (I think), but you
can run programs in fullscreen mode. For example, open terminal and type
tuxpaint --fullscreen
That way all the usual window manager stuff is disabled, no way to
right click outside window (until you exit tuxpaint). You may want to
consider running some less featured window manager for your kid, create
couple launch icons (to launch tuxpaint etc in fullscreen mode). You
could even run two X same time, one behind ctrl+alt+F7 for yourself,
other F8 for your kid.
You may be interested to search what people call kiosk mode. It's
basicly what you do for public computers to secure them from accidental
or intentional tampering. Usually it involves running web browser as the
only allowed application with reduced features. But it can be applied to
