Getting a gravis gamepad pro (gameport) to work

I missed that you have the game port version. I have an old gravis
gamepad that connects via the game port, but I now exclusively use my
gravis gamepad USB, with which I haven't had any issues. I won't have
either of my gamepads with me until next week. 

If I remember, I'll give the gameport one a go. I don't recall having
issues with it...

One program I like to test joysticks is jscalibrator. You might give
that an install and see if it finds any joysticks.
