Hi,

Make sure the hfsplus module is loaded on boot time.  If it's not then
gnome-volume-manager (and mount) won't be able to autodetect that
filesystem.  The module gets loaded when you specify via the command
line mount -t hfsplus.

You can just add hfsplus to the list in the file /etc/modules
