I am looking at GRUB-2's wiki

and in their "to do" list, I can see :

"Add a fancy menu interface which utilizes the GraphicsMode extensively
with many eye-candies. This is important to beat GRUB legacy."

Wow, can't wait to see some work done on this, some example screenshots
of their work. Who knows, maybe it will be ready in time before the
feature freeze of Breezy, and would have a complete graphical Ubuntu :
GRUB, Kernel splash, GTk FB installer... yeahhh :o)))))))
