Hoary Partition Question

Possibility is that the permisions on directory you
mounted the partition to are set for root only.

look into the command chmod

example (as root)
chmod 777 /Backups 
everyone can do everything in this directory.

Also make sure partition is not mounted as read only
in /etc/fstab.
