Sound recording with Intel 82801DB-ICH4 (AC97) sound card

One thing that I forgot to mention before is that I can use skype
without any problem after I kill ESD.  I know skype uses OSS.

Under gnome, I tried every option under Multimedia System Detector. 
ESD makes the programs stall, ALSA and OSS give me an error.
