with 512mb of ram it is fast enough for a basic desktop. i wouldn't especially want to edit big image/audio files on it, though i have done video editing on 400mhz G3 iMac and its possible (just not the fastest way to do it.) the intergrated GPU is not up 3D stuff, but you could stick a radeon on the pci slot.

i choose it because it was cheap £150 for motherboard and cpu, small, silent (no fan), has firewire and pcmcia, and the board plus cpu plus peripherals plus cd drive plus 120gb hard drive use less than 60 watts.
