hoary install can't detect my network card

I posted earlier today about my network card "disappearing" when I
upgraded from warty to hoary with apt-get dist-upgrade. I just popped
in the hoary cd to do a clean install and the installer tells me it
can't find a network device. This is on my IBM Thinkpad T20 that has
successfully run many different linux distributions over the past few
years. I just booted up knoppix 3.7 as a sanity check and network
card still works fine there. It's a 3com "mini" pci built in network
card, normally uses the 3c59x module. Should I file a bug report?
