tvtime locks machine solid

I've been using xawtv sucessfully and thought I would try tvtime, which
gives better quality pictures.

Tvtime starts up OK and does give good pictures, but quite soon after
starting it up the whole machine locks up.

Any suggestions?

I have:-
Ubuntu 5.04 _Hoary Hedgehog_ - Release amd64
2.6.10-5-amd64-k8-smp
dual opteron 2GB
Non-free Linux 2.6.10 modules (nvidia)
nvidia FX5200
WinTV Go
