Any "Compellng" reason to upgrade?

Evan, actually the USB mouse is a different matter.
Synaptics Touchpad devices conflict with PS/2 ports, that's why they
usually can NOT work simultaneously when an external PS/2 mouse is
connected!
That's also the reason (working on a PS/2 kinda bridge) Synaptics
Touchpad will usually work (at least on HP laptops) with any PS/2 mouse
driver, under various operating systems.
So, please, read my older posts with regards to "Synaptics Touchpad
*AND a PS/2 mouse*". Mea culpa, USB mouses DO WORK simultaneously with
a Synaptics Touchpad (if they send core events).
