usb mount options

Hi,

is there a possibility to change ubuntu's mounting behaviour when 
plugging in USB disks/flash drives? I want to change the options that 
ubuntu uses when mounting my usbdrive as rsync doesn't work out very 
well.. (I can not access or see any .* files on the disk, for example)
