Musicbrainz cannot retreive tag info

I'm having difficulties getting either Juk or amaroK to retrieve tag info off 
the net. I get either 'error connecting to musicbrainz server' or 'track not 
found' errors as soon as I click on the button. It's like the attempt fails 
before anything net-related ever happens. The ppl at #musicbrainz assure me 
that their service is indeed up and running. 

I've tried removing libmusicbrainz2, since I had both 2 and 4 installed. 
Didn't help. There's nothing blocked by my firewalls, but it doesn't look 
like anything is even getting that far. Nothing in .xsession-errors gives any 
clue to what the problem is.

Is anyone else having similar problems, and is there somewhere I can look on 
my system to try and track down what is happening?
