Hi all...
I am brand new in this list, and also in linux world (veeeeeery new,
in fact). I've been giving a try to open soft as firefox, thunderbird
and openoffice, and being very happy with them, i've decided to try
linux, the next step.
After surfing the web for a couple of months, i have choosen ubuntu,
because i thin it is the more friendly to a complete newbie in linux
like me. So i waited for the new release hoary, downloaded the Live-CD
anf tried. And now i have a couple of big problems / doubts. Hope u
can help me with them:
1. My wifi card. Hoary doesn't recognises it. Any of the two leds is
on (power and internet connection). It is a pcmcia Conceptronic C54RC.
For me, my laptop with no internet access is completely useless.
2. My data. I have not been able to find the way to them. I have not
found anywhere something like an explorer to the windows disc.
Hope u can help this complete newbie.
My system is a laptop, a Compaq Presario R3000 (R3344EA), PIV 2,8
GHz, 512 MB RAM, WindowsXP (still, hopefully for a short time),
graphics by ATI mobility radeon 9000 IGP, 40 GB HDD.
Thanx in advance
