Hibernate (Suspend-to-disk) is enabled by defaulted, since it should work on
all/most machines.  However, Suspend-to-RAM doesn't work on all machines at
the moment (it's actually harder to unsuspend from RAM, than from disk!) and
so is disabled by default.

You can enable it and see if it works on your system by editing:

  /etc/default/acpi-support
