iMac: installing to a secondary Firewire drive?

Oh, I know it can be done, and have done the same on x86 hardware.

However, since repartitioning Macs is such a pain (it is..) the 
benefits for test-driving Ubuntu on Mac hardware would be much bigger.  
Also, using iPod shuffle would make it so.. apple-ish.  in a way.

What I'd like to have, really, is a step-by-step guideline at the 
Ubuntu wiki on how to set this up.  Maybe the Debian page you mentioned 
earlier will be a starter.  I'll look into it during the weekend.
