    Feb 6, 2005 - Emacs 21.4 released (fixing a security hole)

This is not THE 21.4 as the developers have been working towards for
some time now. It was just a quick fix which RMS sent out to close
the security hole, making the other developers a bit upset, due to the
need for changing the version numbers in a lot of docs. Anyway, the
security hole fix was applied to Warty (and I assume Hoary):

    http://www.ubuntulinux.org/support/documentation/usn/usn-76-1

but with another versioning scheme, as is common for security fixes.

The emacs to be looking forward to is 22.1:

    http://savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/emacs/emacs/etc/NEWS?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

Gtk+ 2.0 support is maybe the most relevant for this group?
